Hunter Valley

Hi everyone! Today was our last day in the Sydney area and we spent it in Hunter Valley, which is especially famous for their chocolate, wine, and cheese. We went to several wineries and learned about the wine-making process. It's interesting because Australian wineries ferment their wine in stainless steel containers instead of barrels due to the cost of exporting oak from the US. We tried a few samples of wine and then went to a boomerang-throwing lesson. My first attempt was miserable and I threw it straight into the ground. :) My second attempt returned the boomerang back to me. You have to hold the boomerang and throw it vertically at a 45 degree angle (completely opposite from how you throw a frisbee). I will attach some pictures tomorrow of my boomerang lesson.

We also went to a chocolate and cheese factory and tried several different varieties of both! They had everything from mint chocolate to chili chocolate, which was really hot!

We had a great time on the bus as there were people from Peru, China, Scotland, England, Germany, the US, and India, so we got to know each other quite well. Everyone seemed really interested that we were on a pharmacy exchange and wanted to know all about pharmacy in the US.

I will write more in the next few days once I'm back in Clayton...we leave tomorrow am at 8:15 out of Sydney, back to Melbourne.
